Adult Division + 1 Beyond Canvas
From the jurors -- Thank you for having the courage to display your work for all to see. Because of your courage, you are ALL winners. We chose the awards among all the children because of their unique and original point of view in the way a child sees High Bridge with an honest eye.
From the jurors -- This plein air piece beautifully captures the essence of the outdoor scene in High Bridge with a fresh, spontaneous energy that draws the viewer in. Through confident brushwork and thoughtful observation, the work conveys both a moment in time and a deep connection to place. Its success lies not just in technical execution, but in the emotion and immediacy it evokes—hallmarks of strong plein air painting. Small but mighty little piece. Upon closer viewing the painting exploded with color! Wonderful.
From the jurors -- We were amazed at the command of the watercolor medium this artist has. She made the cloudy sky and the street wet with rain very believable. There are great accents in red as well. It was refreshing seeing a painting on a rainy day challenging the originality of subject matter in a new way.
From the jurors -- We were impressed by the long depth of field and a wonderful use of light at the far end of the River. The South Branch of the Raritan River is the heart beat of High Bridge and Hunterdon County NJ.
From the jurors -- A captivating and dynamic piece. Not only is the photograph visually stunning with its expertly executed aperture and shallow depth of field, but as a resident of High Bridge, it also sparks curiosity—inviting you to wonder who is jumping into the dam! The image immediately draws you in, leading the viewer to a thrilling moment of discovery regarding the true subject matter. From the composition to the title, everything about it exudes joy. Well done!
